Welcome to advising in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Thank you for your service to the College of Arts and Sciences as an academic advisor.
As an advisor, you will serve as the primary resource for your students. Your job
is to have a working knowledge of your degree program using the resources below.
Your first step in becoming an advisor is to contact the Director of Student Services
in the Dean's office. This person will help you get proper advisor permissions and
access to resources. Use the Banner Access form to get advisor privileges in the systems we use below: /registrar/pdf-docs/forms/access-17.pdf.
As an advisor, you will use three primary resources:
- Banner - use Banner to clear students to register (SPAAPIN), to enter permits (SFASRPO) and to assign yourself as advisor (SGAADVR)
- UMDegree 鈥� electronic degree sheet, academic planner
- Navigate 鈥� academic appointment scheduling system
After you have reviewed the resources above, contact the Director of Student Services
in the Dean's office of the College of Arts and Sciences.
